"Six Quirks of Natalie Pelfrey" Tag

Please, if you are my friend, remain my friend after reading this. If you are in my family, there is nothing you can do about it. I have so many darn quirks its hard to choose six, but I will try to share the ones that my husband probably considers the most odd.
1. Top sheet? No thank you. I never, ever sleep with a top sheet. They are incredibly uncomfortable, scratchy and cold. I do, and have for about 18 years, slept with the blanket that my Gramma Dearden made for me. Is it big enough for Eric? No. He has to fend for himself.

2. Disgust of dishrags. Dishrags stink, smell, odorize my home and make me ill. After I touch them, my hands smell nasty for hours afterward. How do I wipe my counters, etc? Sanitizing wipes. Thank you modern conveniences.

3. Crossword Adoration. I would pretty much prefer to sit down and do a crossword to anything else. I have a huge omnibus of Sunday-sized ones and they keep me busy. If Ethan takes a nap or Eric is watching a game I bust out my CW book.

4. Cheap, cheap, cheap. I am cheap, what more can I say? I don't remember the last time I didn't buy the cheapest thing available in the selection. This is very rarely not the case. The only shoes I own are from Good Will. I do not spend more than $3.50 on a shirt. My kid plays with hangers and rocks. GreatValue and generic brands are my friend. I'm just a dadgum tightwad I guess! (My husband tries to balance me out.)

5. Fingernail Freak. My nails are nothing to write home about, but if one of them gets a snag, I can't cope. I always have a file with me. If I don't, I pretty much chew the whole thing off. Bleck!!

6. Newspaper Refusal. I will not touch newspapers because they get my hands black. Its disgusting. Plus I think they are a waste of trees and setup for paper cuts. Eric just started getting the Wall Street Journal...this will take some getting used to. Just as long as I never have to pick it up and it gets recycled....

Like I say, if these aforementioned items happen to distress you, please try to forget about them. I don't think they will cause any of you harm, but let me know if they do. Also, if you have stuck with it and read this, consider yourself tagged. That means YOU, Darrell, Loralee, Camille, Shark, and all my other blogging chums!

Okay, so I totally agree with you...Clorox sanitizing wipes saved my life. No more doing 20 rags in the laundry every week because they all stink so bad I can't handle it. LOVE THEM! And as far as the cheap thing...blame (or thank) our mothers. They are two of a kind!

I would just like to say that this was a great post. I did not know these things about my own flesh and blood, who is you, Nat.
And can I say that I think crosswords are a tool of the underworld to cause harm and misery to the inhabitants of this world. I hate them. I cannot abide their presence. I can get like maybe one or two, and then I give up in disgust.

I'm afraid I would NEVER be able to narrow all of my quirks down to just 6...by the way, I admire your crossword skills! Whenever I try to do a crossword, I end up feeling like such a social reject because I never know any of the answers. So I stick to sudoku!

I won't list six quirks like this on my own blog, as I try to break from the norm in my posts, but I will allow you to know what such quirks are by listing them in this comment:

1. I have a special place in my heart for comics, but am generally turned off by girls who express a similar interest. I try not to say that I could never date a fellow comics fan, but truth is that if the girl is as big a fan as I (and I'm relatively not a huge comics nerd), I probably will lose interest. I can think of one girl who suffered this fate already. I was totally interested, she was way cute, and then found out that "Justice League" was her favorite TV show. She lost me. Totally hypocritical of me.

2. I hate mint chocolate and mint ice cream. I love chocolate, I love ice cream, and I like mints. But two of the three combinations of those elements make me want to vomit profusely. It's like eating toothpaste.

3. I'd rather ride my bike twenty miles than take a bus somewhere. I'm not totally sure what my aversion to buses are, and it's not like I NEVER take one, but it's usually a last resort. I guess I just feel like buses meander so much due to their routes they have to follow, it drives me nuts that I can't just head directly to my location. Plus I'm paying good money to be crammed into a rough-riding stinkhole. I can bike for 0 times the cost, and it's healthy for me.

4. I really, really enjoy cleaning/detailing cars, despite my lack of car knowledge. I would almost do it for nothing if the supplies were provided.

5. I've had a thing for Neil Diamond music since I was 3 or 4 years old. He was all I listened to back then, and nowadays I still harbor a sequestered passion for his tunes (well, not so much in the latter part of his career). And there are some songs of his that I've gone almost a decade without hearing but I still know the words.

6. If there's a TV show, movie, novel, or anything that involves time travel, I'm probably tempted to watch/read it. For some reason I just love time travel theory, no matter how silly it is. Sometimes this allows me to enjoy such nonsense films as "Bill and Ted" flicks, but sometimes this attraction exposes me to utter crap (which means, yes, I gave in to seeing "The Lake House" at the dollar theater... uuuuuugh....).

this is great Natalie - and believe it or not I love you inspite of your quirks. I'm gonna have to think about my quirks - not because I don't have any, it's because I don't know if I'll be able to narrow them down. You are a cutie BTW

My favorite part of this post:

"My kid plays with hangers and rocks."

You are so funny! And I'm convinced my life would be better if we lived closer . . .
