Ethan's Infinite Wisdom

So I decided to start posting the cute funny little things that Ethan says on the side of my blog like so many of friends have creatively done. I hope you enjoy them and keep in mind that he is but two years old!

Obama Enthusiast in my Home

It's been freakin' me out the last couple weeks as I have heard Ethanrunning around the house yelling, "Yes we can!" I about threw the liberal little pill out before I realized that his repeated slogan was coming from Bob the Builder (speaking of his ability to build and fix things: i.e. "Can we fix it? Yes we can!") and not Barak Obama's presidential campaign platform.
If I was Bob the Builder I would sue the pants off Obama for stealing my jingle.

Guardian Angels Work Hard

I think Ethan's guardian angel is on triple duty. Today alone I found Ethan doing the following:
  • sucking on my wedding ring
  • drinking tub water
  • shaving with daddy's electric razor (yes, he plugged it in)
  • Unplugging and plugging in the microwave
  • jumping off a chair set on top of a step
  • tasting Noxzema
  • running and jumping in the parking lot
  • putting a lighter in his mouth and attempting start it with the clicker thing
Yes, I try to keep up with him. No, I am not able to. That is why I would like to publicly thank his guardian angel on this blog.

Visits and Blessing for Liberty

We have been so lucky to have family visit after Libby's birth. My mom and siblings Darrell and Melodie came to help for a week or so followed by Eric's parents and his brother Brandon. It was so, so wonderful to have help with the babies. Eric and I were so glad we were able to share our little newborn with our families. On Sunday, Eric gave Libby a beautiful blessing. The Pelfreys were here at that time so we were fortunate to have Eric's dad Steve in the circle. Connie, Eric's mom brought a gorgeous and precious blessing dress for Libby. We are so sad that everyone has gone home now and left us to our own devices. Please visit again soon!

Pelfrey Needs

I am following my brother Darrell's lead and finding out what the world thinks I need by going to google.com and typing in "Natalie needs."
According to google:
  • Natalie needs a nighty
  • Natalie needs to go
  • Natalie needs insulin injections twice daily
  • Natalie needs sponsors
  • Natalie needs to pay for a clock
Google also thinks Eric needs a few things.
  • Eric needs a hug
  • Eric needs cable petition
  • Eric needs a girlfriend
  • Eric needs to sell his stuff
  • Eric needs to update
I had no idea about all the things our family needs! I don't dare find out about Ethan and Libby. Haha. Try it.

Kids Say the Darndest Things

Eric: Ethan, will you choose someone to say the prayer, please?
Ethan: no response
Eric: Ethan, would you like mommy or daddy to say it?
Ethan: Elmo say it!
Eric: Ughhh...it has to be a real person.

Lovin' on Libby

One of the serious worries I have right now is that Ethan will maul the dickens out of Libby. Too many hugs, kisses and loving gestures. "Killing with kindness" as my pediatrician put it. Thank heaven Eric is still on break from school so he can hold Ethan at bay. It really is cute to watch him react to her most of the time. "Baby sister, BIG hug, mommy!" (Aghhhhh!!) "No, Ethan, babies just get little tiny hugs!" and "Mommy, tiny little eyes!" (Aghhhh!!) "Yes, Ethan, she has very tiny eyes, but we don't touch them, okay?!"
My favorite Ethan quote so far regarding Libby happened at the hospital. He wanted to hold her one more time before he went home with daddy for the night. After he'd been holding her for about .11 seconds he said, gesturing to the clear baby holder thing, "Put it away!" I'm thinking--we'll put it away for now, but this thing is comin' home with us tomorrow!
Ha ha ha...(tired laugh)...such is motherhood...
Libby remains the sweetest and most gorgeous baby alive!
